 A resident of a village in Haryana’s Kaithal was arrested for allegedly passing information to the Pakistan army and ISI during the recent conflict between India and Pakistan. The accused was identified as Devendra, a resident of Mastgarh Cheeka village in Kaithal. Speaking on the police action, DSP Kaithal Veerbhan said that the district police of Kaithal had received intelligence information that led to the arrest

Intelligence information was received by the district police of Kaithal, on that basis our special detective staff arrested Devendra, son of Narwal Singh, resident of village Mastgarh Cheeka,” Veerbhan said, as quoted by news agency ANI. Police questioned Devendra after taking him into custody. As per the police, Devendra, during his interrogation, told police that he was in contact with the Pakistan intelligence agency, “After taking him into custody, he was questioned. During that interrogation, he said that he was in contact with the Pakistan intelligence agency, ISI. He used to provide information about the dispute going on between India and Pakistan to that agency, and also information about Operation Sindoor to the Pakistani army and the ISI from time to time. Our staff at the cyber police station is doing a thorough investigation into the devices found with him. Whatever the truth may be, the law will be followed accordingly,” DSP Kaithal Veerbhan added.In a separate operation on May 4, Punjab Police arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army Cantonment areas and Air Bases in Amritsar to Pakistani intelligence operatives.

The IPL 2025 is set for resumption on Saturday after nine day’s gap in Bengaluru with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders. On May 8, the Delhi Capitals’ match against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala was called off midway as areas like Pathankot and Jammu came under drone attack from Pakistan. However, following a ceasefire between the two countries, it was announced that the IPL 2025 would resume with a match between RCB and KKR at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the resumption of the 18th season of the IPL 2025 and revealed the schedule for the remaining 17 fixtures.

The BCCI suspended the cash-rich league for a week due to tensions between India and Pakistan.

“It was an unusual few days for everybody. For me personally, there was lots to sort out and it was a busy few days. For many of our lads, actually, it was a well-earned rest. So quite a few of them enjoyed getting home, seeing family, even if it’s just for a couple of days and then coming back again. Actually, we were saying even yesterday, the boys came in with a lot of energy for their practice. So as far as the group are concerned, they look to be in a really good place. So, we are pretty pleased about that,” Mo Bobat said in the pre-match press conference.

He also spoke about the challenges that were presented due to the unforeseen extension of the IPL season.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is considering taking part in a reality TV show in which immigrants would compete for American citizenship, the department confirmed on Friday.

Asked about the reported idea, DHS responded with a statement that said the pitch “has not received approval or rejection by staff,” and that “each proposal undergoes a thorough vetting process prior to denial or approval.”

“We need to revive patriotism and civic duty in this country, and we’re happy to review out-of-the-box pitches,” Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin said in the statement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the proposed show — which was pitched by a Canadian American named Rob Worsoff — would see contestants face off to prove they are the most American.

“This isn’t ‘The Hunger Games’ for immigrants,” the newspaper quoted Worsoff as saying — a reference to a dystopian novel and subsequent movie about children forced to kill each other in a televised competition for survival.

“This is not, ‘Hey, if you lose, we are shipping you out on a boat out of the country,’” he said.

The Journal reviewed a 36-page slide deck from Worsoff’s team about the proposed program, which would see contestants compete in one-hour episodes.

This could include a gold rush competition to see who can retrieve the most precious metal from a mine, or one in which contestants would work in teams to assemble the chassis of a Model T car, according to the newspaper.

The show would start with an arrival at Ellis Island — the traditional entrance point for immigrants to the United States — and would see one contestant eliminated per episode.

The news comes as former reality show star President Donald Trump’s administration has moved to end temporary protected status (TPS) for various groups of immigrants it had shielded them from deportation.

Federal law permits the government to grant TPS to foreign citizens who cannot safely return home because of war, natural disasters or other “extraordinary” conditions.

Since taking office, Trump has sought to strip TPS protections from citizens of countries including Afghanistan, Haiti and Venezuela as part of his broader crackdown on immigration.

That crackdown — led by DHS — has included immigration raids, arrests and deportations.

Neeraj Chopra in Doha Diamond League 2025, Javelin Throw Highlights: India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra made history on Friday as he became the first-ever Indian to breach the elusive 90m mark in javelin, competing at the 2025 Doha Diamond League. After several close attempts in the past, Neeraj finally breached the 90m barrier, on his third attempt of the night, with a stunning throw of 90.23m. Despite leading up to the final round, Neeraj ended up finishing second as Germany’s Julian Weber broke his own personal best with a sensational throw of 91.06m. India also had more to be proud of, as Parul Chaudhary set a national record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

It was Weber’s first 90m-plus effort as well, and he became the 26th javelin thrower to breach the coveted mark. His effort was the world leading mark this season so far. Two-time world champion and Paris Olympics bronze medallist Anderson Peters of Grenada was third with his opening throw of 84.65m.

“I am very happy to have breached the 90m mark but it’s a bitter-sweet experience,” Chopra said later.

“My coach Jan Zelezny said today is the day when I can throw 90m. The wind helps and weather is little warm and that helps. I also told Julian that we can throw 90m. I am also happy for him (Julian).

“I believe I can throw farther than this in the coming events. We will work on some aspects and will throw 90m plus again this season,” he added.

The other Indian in the fray, Kishore Jena finished eighth with a below-par throw of 78.60m.

Chopra began the contest with 88.44m, followed by a foul attempt. He then sent his spear past the elusive 90m mark to the collective sigh of relief of the whole country. His next three series were 80.56m, foul and 88.20m.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a rare public admission confirmed Indian ballistic missiles struck the Nur Khan Airbase and other targets inside Pakistan during the early hours of May 10. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, Mr Sharif recounted a 2:30 AM call from the Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, informing him of the missile attacks launched by India.

“In the intervening night of May 9-10, around 2:30 AM, General Asif Munir called me through a secure phone and told me India has launched its ballistic missiles. One has landed at the Nur Khan airbase and some at other areas,” Prime Minister Sharif said in a public address. 

The Nur Khan Airbase, located between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, is a strategic military facility long central to Pakistan’s air operations. Previously known as Chaklala Airbase, it was also targeted by Indian forces during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.

This speaks volumes about the scale, precision, and boldness of #OperationSindoor,” BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya wrote on X, sharing a video of the Pakistani Prime Minister’s address. The Indian strikes came under Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory military action launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 Indian lives.  According to government sources, around 100 terrorists affiliated with terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen were eliminated during this operation.

The campaign involved the Indian Air Force (IAF), Indian Army, and Navy working in tandem to strike at terror infrastructure and strategic military installations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Targets included airfields, radar stations, and communication hubs in at least 11 known locations.

Among the first targets struck in the early hours of May 10 were the PAF bases at Chaklala (Nur Khan) and Sargodha. Satellite imagery later confirmed impacts at Jacobabad, Bholari, and Skardu.

Following the strikes, Pakistan engaged in retaliatory artillery fire across the Line of Control (LoC) and launched multiple drone and missile attacks against Indian military infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Punjab and Gujarat. This prompted further Indian strikes against Pakistani radar and logistics infrastructure.
